Colchani is a locality of the Municipality of Uyuni in the province of Antonio Quijarro, in the Department of Potosí, Bolivia. It's situated 20 km from the city of Uyuni on the road that links this town with Oruro, at an altitude of 3,674 meters above sea level. The town of Colchani is geographically located within the following boundaries: To the north with the community of Pampa Grande To the east with the community of Chacala, municipality of Uyuni. To the south with the city of Uyuni. To the west the Salar de Uyuni. Colchani is the gateway to the Uyuni salt flat. It boasts a salt museum that attracts many tourists. In the town there are 2 very basic accommodations with a lack of sanitary facilities. There are also several hotels on the shores of the Salar de Uyuni that do have all the sanitary facilities, which are privately owned.
